I'm Jose, a frontend and full-stack engineer based in Stockholm, Sweden. I work on creator tools and acquisition at Epidemic Sound, after helping build Disney+ and web platforms used by MLB, HBO Now, ESPN+ and NHL.
Product features, shared platforms, and what I contributed to each.
I helped build Disney+ from inception to global launch, serving millions of users at launch. My work included the web login experience, React/TypeScript frontend, Node.js gateway, and cloud infrastructure for launches across the US, Latin America, and Europe.
I built an assistant that lets users search music and sound effects in natural language, working with backend engineers on the API integration. I also added recovery for stalled responses so users could retry without reloading the page.
I led development of Track Edits, which lets creators shorten, extend, or loop music to fit their projects. I also built the AI Voices interface for generating voiceovers from text or recorded speech.
Studio recommends music and sound effects based on an uploaded video. For an acquisition experiment, I built an interactive homepage demo that let visitors select and preview a video, then carry their draft through signup into Studio.
I worked on semantic search, audio similarity, and search using YouTube and Spotify references. I led the MusicBrainz migration that expanded the genre catalog from about 100 to 1,600+ genres, working with data engineers on the API and frontend experience.
I moved password-reset emails to Scala microservices and a new delivery platform, cutting delivery from five minutes to under five seconds. I also built a service for rendering and batching more than 6 million emails a day.
From test automation to backend, frontend, and product engineering.
Currently in Growth's Acquisition team, following work on music discovery and creator tools in Soundtrack's Web Experience team. Built the Studio acquisition experiment, Assistant, Track Edits, and AI Voices UI. Served as Tech Lead for about a year, mentoring engineers and coordinating planning. Built internal tools for A/B feature toggling and search tuning.
Worked on Disney+ from inception to global launch: web login, React/TypeScript frontend, the Node.js gateway, and infrastructure for regional launches. Built internal React tools for the web organization and migrated modules to TypeScript and ES6.
Built a reusable Node.js framework adopted across MLB, HBO Now, NHL, ESPN+, and GoPro. Led delivery of the GoPro web app, including its frontend, backend, AWS infrastructure, and Docker-based developer workflows.
Started in automation and went on to manage teams in New York and Dublin before moving into backend and full-stack roles. Built email services in Scala, Shop the Look, and an open-source web-to-app banner, and led the responsive redesign of gilt.com.
What I enjoy about the work, and life around it.

I live in Stockholm, Sweden. Before moving here, I had spent my whole life in New York, where I also built my career.
I like working where product, design, and engineering meet: understanding what someone needs, talking through the options, and building something useful.
I started in test automation and moved into backend, frontend, and platform engineering. I've managed and mentored engineers along the way, but still enjoy the hands-on work. I care about how a team works together as much as what it delivers.
